S B Foot Tanning Company in Leather Supplies Directory

S. B. Foot Tanning Company was founded in 1872 by Silas B. Foot, a farmer, inventor and shoemaker who made his way from Pennsylvania to Red Wing, Minnesota, just about the time Minnesota was becoming a state. After a number of other ventures, which included the making of shoes, S. B. Foot opened up a tannery along Trout Brook. The Shoe business eventually moved to St. Paul and was sold to his partner while the tannery continued to be operated by his son E. H. Foot, and later, his grandsons S. B. Foot II and E. H. Foot Jr., and great-grandson S. B. Foot III. In 1986, the business became a wholly owned subsidiary of Red Wing Shoe Company but it has continued to serve a broad customer base with fine leather for work boots, safety shoes, casual shoes, western boots and mens dress shoes.
